“When you are looking at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.” —C. Benetto

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. How about stepping outside of a traditional gift like flowers and instead, giving a gift that will improve her overall health, increase her energy, reduce her pain, improve balance and posture, provide better sleep, and reduce stress levels?!

Whether it’s your mom, wife, daughter, sister, grandma, or BFF, celebrate the beauty of who she is by offering her a gift that shows how much you care about her overall health and vitality and that keeps giving all year long!

If you choose a gift that you can share together, you’ll provide the best gift, your time, while getting healthy together.

1- Fitness Basket

Fill a gym bag or basket full of fitness equipment that she can use at home like exercise tubing, a new yoga mat, a Fit Bit or Apple Watch, a massage gun, a water bottle, and/or a fitness magazine or book. Add in some workout socks, sunglasses, and/or any gear that you know she may appreciate. Depending on your budget, go for lower-cost or higher price point options. You can find most items at sporting goods stores, department stores, or local specialty shops like Foot Traffic.

2 – Registration

Is there something she or both of you have always wanted to try? Sign each other up for an introductory course in rock climbing, paddle boarding, kayaking, ballroom dance, yoga, barre or any experience you both would enjoy.

3 – Race Entry

Register you and your special lady for an upcoming run/walk or triathlon. You can even include registration into a running or triathlon training clinic to help you train to cross the finish line together. Check out whyracingevents.com for fun, local events.

4 – Fitness Adventure

If you have a large budget, consider a trip that involves an active adventure like Hiking the Grand Canyon, Cycling through France, or Skiing in Colorado. Perhaps she’d enjoy a Fitness Retreat at a destination spa like Rancho LaPuerta or Canyon Ranch. Give her a memory that she will never forget.

5 – Gift-Certificates

Give her a gift certificate to her favorite sporting-goods store or online active gear company so she can choose what she needs, and you won’t risk buying the wrong size, style, or color.

6 – Personal Training

Anyone would benefit from and appreciate an expert coach overseeing their health and fitness journey. Most training studios will prepare a Mother’s Day Gift Package for your loved one.

7 – Massage

Any fitness enthusiast loves a massage, and the physical and mental health benefits are well documented. You can pick up a gift certificate at most local spas. If you’re feeling generous, consider purchasing a day-at-the-spa package for her that often includes massage, body wrap, facial, manicure, and pedicure. A day of pampering will win you HUGE points!

8 – Mother’s Day Specialty Classes

Check local listings to see if any of your favorite businesses are offering a specialty class Mother’s Day weekend and do something fun and active together. Local trainers Jamie Hahn and Nick Medlock are offering a specialty class on Saturday May 13th from 10am-Noon that includes a Muscle workout, a Yoga class, and a Sound Healing session. What a wonderful way to spend Mother’s Day weekend together. Schedule lunch or brunch afterwards! Call 360.574.7292 or Details here.

The special women in our lives deserve to be celebrated every day, but how wonderful that one day is reserved to honor her. Hopefully today’s column will provide you with ideas to show her how much you care.
