Rites of succession

You may think the Queen Elizabeth and Princes Charles and William are the only one with a clear line of succession for the crown.

Not true. There’s one here in Vancouver, too.

City Manager Eric Holmes recently informed the city council that he is taking this week off.

“In accordance with Vancouver City Charter Article III, I am appointing David Mercier as Acting City Manager,” he wrote.

And if both Holmes and Mercier are gone, either due to illness or intrigue of the highest order?

“I appoint (Vancouver CFO) Lloyd Tyler as Acting City Manager,” he wrote.

Don’t get any ideas, Lloyd.
