A Whole New World

I have often contemplated starting a food blog, but never quite knew how. Some people make their sites look so incredible and enticing, and I would get overwhelmed before I’d get started. Yet, here I am, with the amazing opportunity to talk about something that, quite honestly, has become WAY more than the mere nourishment needed to survive. I get to talk about FOOD. What’s better than that? I get to talk about local food, local people, and the local scene around Clark County. Pinch me….I must be dreaming!

Being raised in a large Italian-German family, food was-and still is- the center of our gatherings. I remember from a young age, the hustle and bustle of the kitchen when my aunts, my mom, and great aunts would be preparing for a big feast. The smell of garlic would fill the air, along with the hum of “lady chatter”. The smells would swirl in the air and mix to create an aroma I will never forget, and can only compare to Heaven.

Over the years, I realized that I too, have inherited the gift of cooking. Not just cooking from a recipe (which I often find more difficult) but cooking from my heart and soul. I feel so fortunate to have been born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. The amazing bounties our local area has to offer are astounding! Having lived in several states across the U.S., including Colorado, Wyoming, and Oklahoma, I blame most of my being homesick on the lack of fresh salmon, berries, artichokes, etc. All I know is that the Pacific Northwest has its own flavor. Its own essence, if you will. A flavor I tried to recreate, but it was never quite the same as being home.

A little about me today: I am the wife of an Air National Guardsman/FAA Employee/Softball Coach, and mom of two busy teenagers. While my kids were younger, I was fortunate enough to go to Culinary School and feed my culinary “beast.” Now, I find myself not only juggling crazy sports schedules, lucky enough to be a part of this blog, but I am also embarking on a new career that I can’t wait to share more about. If you feel I have left you hanging, I guess that means you will just have to come back soon.

With that being said, It is with great honor that I welcome you into my world of food adventures!

I was fortunate enough to be born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. After traveling around the states, my family and I made our way back and have planted roots in Clark County. Learning about food, being around food, and creating food has become a huge part of who I am today. I am looking forward to sharing my food world with you!
