Seton Catholic, Camas, La Center and Skyview earn spots in coaches’ preseason high football football rankings by SB Live WA
SB Live WA released preseason top-10 rankings at every classification of high school football after a polling of about 75 coaches from around the state, and Seton Catholic earned the most attention among schools in Southwest Washington.
Camas, Skyview, Seton Catholic and La Center were the area teams to land in the top 10 of their respective classification.
Seton Catholic came in at No. 4 in Class 1A. The Cougars reached the 1A state semifinals last season and return the bulk of their roster this season.
Seton Catholic trails only perennial 1A power Royal, Nooksack Valley and Cashmere in the 1A top 10. La Center, coming off a 10-1 season in 2023, came in at No. 9.
Camas garnered the most attention among local teams in Class 4A. The Papermakers were ranked at No. 6. Skyview also found a spot in the top 10 at No. 9.
Among local teams missing out of the top 10 but receiving votes were Mountain View (3A), Evergreen (3A), Washougal (2A) and Woodland (2A).
It was a little bit curious that 3A coaches took notice of Mountain View and Evergreen, but not Kelso. Also curious was that Kalama did not draw any attention at 1A, although the Chinooks move up from 2B may have played a role in that.
