Week 9 prep football previews, predictions and livestream links

We went 11-2 in Week 8. That pushed our season creep up slightly to 82.5 percent (104-22).

If a tiebreaker is needed in the 4A or 3A Greater St. Helens Leagues next week, they will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at either Doc Harris Stadium in Camas or Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver.

Any 2A GSHL tiebreaker would be held at Columbia River High School.

Seeding and matchups for the 4A and 3A playoffs in Week 10 will be determined by seeding committees and announced on Sunday.

Week 10 playoffs for 2A and 1A teams will be district crossovers with the 2A Evergreen Conference and 1A Evergreen Conference.

The likely seeding for the 2A EvCo is: 1, Tumwater; 2, W.F. West; 3, Aberdeen; 4, Rochester.

The likely seeding for the 1A EvCo is: 1, Montesano; 2, Eatonville; 3, Tenino; 4, Elma.

Many schools offer livestream broadcasts of their home games, either free or for a fee. But fans should be aware of scammers using fake links to livestreams to lure in fans. All livestream links here are verified.

For schools that broadcast games on the NFHS Network, a subscription is required to watch games. Subscriptions cost $11.99 a month, or $79.99 a year.

Here is a look at Week 9 games with a glance at the playoff ramifications.

Adna (2-5) vs. Kalama (5-3)

CENTRAL 2B LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Thursday

Where: Chinook Stadium, Kalama High School

Livestream: None.

Last week: Adna lost to Onalaska 60-12; Kalama beat Toledo 36-29

Last meeting: Kalama 36, Adna 6 (2022).

Game notes: Kalama clinched the Central 2B South Division title last week with a win over Toledo. Now the Chinooks will prepare themselves for the postseason against a team coming off lopsided losses to Toledo and Onalaska – two teams the Chinooks have beaten.

Prediction: Kalama 42, Adna 12

Richland (5-3) vs. Mountain View (7-1)

When: 4:30 p.m. Friday

Where: McKenzie Stadium, Vancouver

TV: Cable Ch. 28.

Livestream: Richland High School YouTube channel

Last week: Richland lost to Kamiakin 42-35, Mountain View beat Heritage 56-12.

Last meeting: Mountain View 45, Richland 44 (2022).

Game notes: Mountain View has wrapped up the 3A Greater St. Helens League title. Now, they will prepare for the Week 10 playoffs with a non-league game against a solid Richland squad. The Thunder could protect their starters in the non-league matchup, but will they still want to impress the 3A Week 10 seeding committee with a nice Week 9 win?

Prediction: Mountain View 27, Richland 21

Union (2-6, 0-2) vs. Skyview (7-1, 1-1)

4A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 5 p.m. Friday

Where: Kiggins Bowl, Discovery MS, Vancouver

TV: Cable Ch. 28.

Livestream: Vancouver Public Schools YouTube channel.

Last week: Union lost to Camas 52-27; Skyview beat Battle Ground 49-10

Last meeting: Skyview 28, Union 6 (2022)

Game notes: Skyview showed it is still a formidable team with its rout of Battle Ground last week. But the Storm have to watch out for a Union team that could still play its way into the playoff picture with a win. A win for Skyview will clinch a playoff spot for the Storm. A convincing win could improve Skyview’s seeding for the Week 10 playoffs. A loss could force them into a three-team tiebreaker with Union and Battle Ground for the last two playoff spots.

Prediction: Skyview 35, Union 17

Prairie (1-7, 1-2) vs. Heritage (0-8, 0-3)

3A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: McKenzie Stadium, Vancouver

Livestream: None.

Last week: Prairie lost to Evergreen 40-19; Heritage lost to Mountain View 56-12.

Last meeting: Prairie 50, Heritage 0 (2022).

Game notes: Prairie will need to stay focused with the game on their field, and not worry about updates coming from Kelso. The Falcons’ postseason hopes hinge on beating the Timberwolves and also having Kelso beat Evergreen. That would put Prairie into a three-team tiebreaker with Kelso and Evergreen. Heritage got some positive results late in their loss to Mountain View, driving for a pair of touchdowns.

Prediction: Prairie 40, Heritage 6

Camas (7-1, 2-0) vs. Battle Ground (7-1, 1-1)

4A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: District Stadium, Battle Ground HS

TV: Cable Ch. 27 and 29.

Livestream: BG27 YouTube Channel.

Last week: Camas beat Union 52-27; Battle Ground lost to Skyview 49-10.

Last meeting: Camas 42, Battle Ground 0 (2022).

Game notes: Camas has clinched a playoff spot. Now the Papermakers want the outright league title. Battle Ground will clinch a playoff spot with a Union loss to Skyview, but the Tigers would like to impress the Week 10 seeding committee with a big win over the Papermakers. The Tigers struggled to move the ball on the ground last week against Skyview, and they figure to have just as difficult a time against the Camas defensive line.

Prediction: Camas 42, Battle Ground 17

Evergreen (5-3, 2-1) vs. Kelso (2-6, 1-2)

3A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Schroeder Field, Kelso HS

Livestream: NFHS Network (subscription required)

Last week: Evergreen beat Prairie 40-19; Kelso lost to Othello 42-24.

Last meeting: Kelso 29, Evergreen 25 (2022).

Game notes: For the second year in a row, Evergreen finds itself in the same position heading into Week 9. If the Plainsmen beat Kelso, they will earn the GSHL’s second berth to the 3A Week 10 playoff. If Evergreen loses, the Plainsmen likely will be in a three-team tiebreaker with Kelso and Prairie. The availability of Kelso quarterback Tucker Amrine, who missed last week’s game, could be key for the Hilanders.

Prediction: Kelso 23, Evergreen 20

Woodland (6-2, 5-1) vs. Ridgefield (6-2, 5-1)

2A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Ridgefield Stadium, Ridgefield High School.

Livestream: Ridgefield Athletics YouTube channel (subscription required)

Last week: Woodland beat Mark Morris 42-7; Ridgefield beat R.A. Long 35-0.

Last meeting: Ridgefield 32, Woodland 14 (2022).

Game notes: This game will determine the 2A Greater St. Helens League champion. Win or lose, Woodland knows it will be home next week in the district playoff as either the GSHL No. 1 or 2 seed. Ridgefield faces an uncertain future if the Spudders lose, including being in a three-team tiebreaker with Washougal and Hudson’s Bay to sort out seeds 2-4. Ridgefield coach Scott Rice is 4-0 against Woodland. But this Woodland team has won more games than any Woodland team since the 2018 team went 8-2.

Prediction: Woodland 28, Ridgefield 24

Hudson’s Bay (6-2, 4-2) vs. Columbia River (2-6, 2-4)

2A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: John O’Rourke Field, Columbia River HS

Livestream: NFHS Network (subscription required)

Last week: Hudson’s Bay beat Hockinson 21-18; Columbia River lost to Washougal 45-6.

Last meeting: Columbia River 44, Hudson’s Bay 8 (2022).

Game notes: If Washougal beats Hockinson, Hudson’s Bay clinches a playoff berth. The Eagles could win and be the No. 4 seed, which means facing Tumwater next week. Or the Eagles could lose and be the No. 4 seed. But winning put the Eagles in position to improve their seeding, including grabbing the No. 2 seed and playing at home next week. River has dropped three straight and looking to finish the season on a positive note.

Prediction: Hudson’s Bay 24, Columbia River 13

Washougal (6-2, 4-2) vs. Hockinson (3-5, 3-3)

2A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Hockinson Stadium, Hockinson HS

Livestream: None.

Last week: Washougal beat Columbia River 45-6; Hockinson lost to Hudson’s Bay 21-18.

Last meeting: Washougal 58, Hockinson 40 (2022).

Game notes: Hockinson needs to win to keep its playoff hopes alive. A Hockinson win and a Bay win will send the Hawks to the playoffs as the GSHL No. 4 seed. A Hockinson win and Bay loses sets up a three-team tiebreaker between Washougal, Bay and Hockinson. Washougal clinches a playoff berth with a win, but will be locked in as the No. 3 seed if Ridgefield beats Woodland. A Woodland win opens the door for Washougal to earn the No. 2 seed through a three-team tiebreaker.

Prediction: Washougal 42, Hockinson 20

Mark Morris (2-6, 1-5) vs. R.A. Long (1-7, 0-6)

2A GREATER ST. HELENS LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Longview Memorial Stadium, Longview

Livestream: N2 Media YouTube channel

Last week: Mark Morris lost to Woodland 42-7; R.A. Long lost to Ridgefield 35-0.

Last meeting: Mark Morris 35, R.A. Long 13 (2022).

Game notes: This is the lone game in the 2A GSHL that has no bearing on the playoffs. But it will factor in bragging rights in Longview for the next year. The Monarchs have lost five in a row after a 2-1 start. The Lumberjacks have dropped seven straight since a Week 1 win.

Prediction: Mark Morris 28, R.A. Long 20

Seton Catholic (7-1, 4-1) vs. King’s Way Christian (2-6, 2-3)

TRICO LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Preece Memorial Stadium, King’s Way Christian High School, Vancouver.

Livestream: King’s Way Christian Schools YouTube channel.

Last week: Seton Catholic beat Fort Vancouver 56-0; King’s Way Christian lost to Castle Rock 45-12.

Last meeting: Seton Catholic 55, King’s Way Christian 34 (2022).

Game notes: Seton Catholic has already enjoyed the best season in school history. The Cougars can wrap up at least the No. 2 seed to the district playoffs – or with a Castle Rock loss to La Center – and host a playoff game for the first time in school history next week. If Castle Rock knocks off La Center and Seton wins, then the Cougars will earn the No. 1 seed.

Prediction: Seton Catholic 48, King’s Way Christian 6

La Center (8-0, 3-0) vs. Castle Rock (4-4, 3-1)

TRICO LEAGUE GAME

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Rocket Stadium, Castle Rock HS

Livestream: NFHS Network (subscription required)

Last week: La Center beat Columbia-White Salmon 51-6; Castle Rock beat King’s Way Christian 45-12.

Last meeting: La Center 31, Castle Rock 0 (2022).

Game notes: Each of the past four regular seasons has ended with La Center facing Castle Rock with the league title at stake. That is once again the case this season. Oddly enough, Castle Rock could find itself in the same position, as the No. 3 seed to the district, win or lose if that win comes by six points or fewer and Seton wins. La Center is looking to wrap up a fifth straight league title and the No. 1 seed to the district playoffs with a win. A loss drops the Wildcats to the No. 2 seed if the loss is by six points or fewer and Seton wins. If the loss is by seven points or more – and Seton wins – La Center would fall to the No. 3 seed.

Prediction: La Center 31, Castle Rock 13

Columbia-White Salmon (0-8, 0-5) vs. Fort Vancouver (1-7, 1-4)

TRICO LEAGUE GAME

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Kiggins Bowl, Discovery MS, Vancouver

TV: Cable Ch. 28.

Livestream: Vancouver Public Schools YouTube channel.

Last week: Columbia-White Salmon lost to La Center 51-6; Fort Vancouver lost to Seton Catholic 56-0.

Last meeting: Fort Vancouver 20, Columbia-White Salmon 0 (2022)

Game notes: Columbia-White Salmon is looking to avoid a second consecutive winless season and snap an 18-game losing streak. Fort Vancouver has dropped seven straight since a Week 1 win, and the Trappers have been shutout in its last four losses. This is a great opportunity for something positive for both programs.

Prediction: Columbia-White Salmon 20, Fort Vancouver 12

Toledo (6-2) vs. Stevenson (3-4)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Stevenson Stadium, Stevenson High School

Livestream: NFHS Network (subscription required)

Last week: Toledo lost to Kalama 36-29; Stevenson was idle.

Last meeting: Toledo 34, Stevenson 28 (2022).

Game notes: Regardless of what happens this week, Stevenson is headed to the playoffs next week as the Trico League’s No. 4 seed by virtue of its three wins over Trico teams in September. Stevenson will travel to face Montesano next week in a battle of Bulldogs. Toledo is also playoff-bound in Class 2B playoffs.

Prediction: Toledo 48, Stevenson 6
