Very little change in Week 8 area prep football power rankings
Not very exciting power rankings this week. There was very little change from last week as teams have sort of settled into positions.
But we did welcome back into the ratings Prairie and Ridgefield.
10. Prairie (4-3, 3A)
After three straight losses, Prairie got back above .500 with a rout at Corvallis. The Falcons are still in the playoff hunt, but they must beat Evergreen on Friday. (Last week unranked)
9. Ridgefield (3-4, 2A)
On the verge of falling into the second division in the 2A Greater St. Helens League, the Spudders firmly put themselves right into position to claim the No. 3 spot to the playoffs with a win over Columbia River last week. (Last week unranked)
8. Castle Rock (6-1, 1A)
The Rockets appear to destined for another Week 9 showdown in the Trico League with La Center. (Last week No. 9)
7. Evergreen (6-1, 3A)
Evergreen faces big game against Prairie this week. The Plainsmen win that and they have secured a spot to the playoffs. (Last week No. 7)
6. Mark Morris (6-1, 2A)
The Monarchs survived a scare last week at Hockinson. If they beat Woodland this week, they will be home for the Week 10 playoffs (Last week No. 6)
5. Kelso (5-2, 3A)
The Hilanders got a big win last week. Now, they get a non-league game this week to get ready for a Week 9 matchup against Evergreen (Last week No. 5)
4. Skyview (5-2, 4A)
Yes, the Storm lost last week. But they came within one play — on a couple of occassions — of knocking off Camas last week. So, we’ll slide them back just one spot. (Last week No. 3)
3. Washougal (6-1, 2A)
The Panthers’ season last week took a turn for the worse last year against Columbia River. This season, the Panthers can lock up the No. 1 seed to the playoffs from the 2A GSHL. (Last week No. 4)
2. Camas (4-3, 4A)
We have stuck by the Papermakers going all the way back to when they were 0-3. We knew then Camas was a good team. And now after four straight wins, it looks like the rest of the state is starting to notice. (Last week No. 2)
1. La Center (6-1, 1A)
The Wildcats could not be stopped last week against Seton Catholic. And they likely won’t be stopped by Columbia-White Salmon. (Last week No. 1)
