Week 2 prep football previews and predictions

Last week’s prep football predictions were barely better than a coin toss at 11-9. Let’s see if we can do better in Week 2.

Clackamas (Ore.) vs. Camas

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: Doc Harris Stadium, 841 NE 22nd Ave., Camas

Broadcast info: Online video at NFHSNetwork (subscription required)

Last week: Clackmas beat Gresham by forfeit; Camas lost to Central Catholic 28-17

Last meeting: No meetings since 2000

Game notes: This is the season opener for Clackamas after the Cavaliers had their season opener called off by a COVID issue with Gresham. Clackamas went 3-3 last season with losses to Jesuit, Central Catholic and Tigard. Clackamas is ranked No. 7 in Oregon 6A. Camas’ loss last week looked worse than the score as big plays hurt the Papermakers — a kickoff return for a TD and an interception return for a score put them in a 14-0 hole. The defense played well, but the offense struggled, punting eight times. Luke Jamison rushed for two touchdowns. This will be the home debut of Camas’ interim coach Jack Hatahaway.

Prediction: Camas 21, Clackamas 13
