LAST WEEK: Evergreen lost to Prairie 42-14; Garfield was idle.

ABOUT EVERGREEN: Evergreen earned the No. 3 seed from the 2A Greater St. Helens League by virtue of its Week 8 win over rival Mountain View. The Plainsmen are led by senior QB Carter Monda, who has thrown for 1,911 yards and 18 TDs in his first year playing football since middle school. Monda was held to 94 yards passing last week, his lowest output since a Week 5 win over Bellinham when the Plainsmen focused on their ground game. Last week, ground game netted 22 yards. Evergreen gave up 420 rushing yards to Prairie team that had been more pass-heavy this season. Receiver Zyell Griffin has 50 catches for 845 yards and 7 TDs.

ABOUT GARFIELD: The Bulldogs from Seattle finished third in the Mountain Division of the Metro League behind top-ranked O’Dea and No. 2 Eastside Catholic. Garfield received a bye last week in the Metro League playoffs. The Bulldogs haven’t played since falling to O’Dea 35-7 on Oct. 25. Garfield’s other two losses were to Class 4A Central Valley (40-39 in Spokane in Week 2) and to Bellevue (28-27), ranked No. 4 in Class 3A.
