GAME NOTES: Goldendale went 0-10 last season. The Timberwolves placed seventh in the 1A South Central Conference West Division. Columbia-White Salmon went 4-4 last season. The Bruins finished fourth in the Trico League. This is a matchup of first-year coaches. Aaron Cochran takes over in Goldendale, his alma mater. The Timberwolves will be young this season, led by junior Corbin Bland. A receiver/quarterback in the past, Bland takes over full-time under center. At White Salmon, Dan Smith takes over for John Hallead. Smith plans to stick to the shotgun single back attack on offense, while switching to a 4-3 defense. Columbia-White Salmon has won the last three meetings between the Gorge rivals.
