GAME NOTES: The game was moved from Yakima to Vancouver because air quality remains an issue in the Yakima area. West Valley’s Week 1 game against Mercer Island was canceled by poor air quality in Yakima. Heritage QB Michael Taras has passed for more than 400 yards and rushed for 130. He rushed for three TDs and passed for 1 in a Week 1 win vs. Prairie, then passed for four more against Evergreen. WR Robert Meadors has 10 catches for 181 yards, and Ammon Garrison has 11 catches for 159 yards. West Valley QB Brandon Battle passed for 121 yards and rushed for 86 more and two TDs against Chiawana, the No. 7 team in 4A. Reggie Harris rushed for 84 yards. West Valley trailed Chiawana 10-6 heading into the fourth quarter last week. The Rams were within 17-12 with 4:15, but an 86-yard run and an interception return for a TD on the game’s final play gave Chiawana its winning margin.
