GAME NOTES: Last season’s four wins were the most by Heritage since 2009. Senior Michael Taras returns at quarterback. He joins Robbie Meadors and Ammon Garrison as team captains. Defense was the Timberwolves’ strength last season, but gone are 10 defensive starters. Prairie makes the switch to the spread with former Battle Ground assistant Mike Peck joining Prairie’s staff. Senior RB Carson Slagle is the lone returning all-leaguer. Junior Jayson Maddux leads the offense at QB. The Falcons tied for third in the 3A GSHL. This will be the fourth season these two neighboring schools have opened the season against each, with Heritage winning the previous three.
