Prep football preview: Skyline (9-2) vs. Camas (11-0)
4A STATE QUARTERFINAL
WHEN, WHERE: 3 p.m. Saturday at Skyline High School, Sammamish
LAST WEEK: Camas beat Graham-Kapowsin 55-6; Skyline beat Eastlake 31-14
GAME NOTES: This is a rematch of last year’s 4A quarterfinal in Sammamish, won by the Spartans 35-10. Skyline went on to lose to Gonzaga Prep 34-16 in the state title game. The Spartans’ two losses this season have come to Richland 38-27 in Week 1 and Woodinville 42-35 in OT on Oct. 20. Both of those teams have also reached the 4A quarterfinals, along with Bothell, a team Skyline beat 34-13. Lake Stevens was runner-up to Woodinville in the 4A KingCo. All four KingCo teams reached the first round of state, with three reaching the quarterfinals. The lone loss was by Eastlake – which lost to KingCo rival Skyline. Skyline relies heavily on its ground attack led by senior Isaiah Shim, who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards. He had 173 yards on 33 carries last week. But the Spartans can also throw the ball. QB Drew Kistner was 9 for 13 for 201 yards and 3 TDs last week. He threw for more than 1,600 yards in the regular season. Camas QB Jack Colletto, the 4A Greater St. Helens League offensive MVP, is the spark that makes the Camas offense go. He has passed for 2,312 yards and 22 TDs, while seeing limiting action in the second half of many of the Papermakers’ games this season. He rushed for at least 124 yards for the fourth time this season last week. He is Camas’ top rusher with 871 yards on 103 carries and 18 TDs. He also plays safety on defense. LB Michael Matthews, a University of Montana commit, was the 4A GSHL co-defensive player of the year. Despite the anchor of Camas’ solid defense, he also carries the ball on offense, rushing for 574 yards on 15 TDs. He had a heads-up touchdown last week when he ran down a teammates fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Cooper McNatt is the leading receiver with 39 catches for 773 yards and 7 TDs. Drake Owen has 42 catches for 680 yards and 7 TDs. The closest game Camas has played this season is a 49-30 win over Couer d’Alene (Idaho). No team has held the Papermakers to under 31 points all season.
