Prep football preview: Forks (4-4) vs. La Center (8-1)

LAST WEEK: Forks lost to Hoquiam 55-22; La Center beat Castle Rock 40-20
GAME NOTES: Forks was the No. 3 in the 1A Evergreen Conference. La Center was Trico League champion. Forks and La Center shared two common opponents – King’s Way Christian and Hoquiam. Forks lost to King’s Way 42-28 and to Hoquiam 55-22. La Center beat King’s Way 26-24 and Hoquiam 30-6. Forks scored at least 22 points in every game but one (62-6 loss to Montesano). The Wildcats have won eight straight since falling 46-35 to 2A GSHL champion Hockinson. Forks led 16-14 at halftime last week against Hoquiam before the Grizzlies blew the Spartans out in the second half. The Spartans rushed for 189 yards last week and passed for 30. Jeffrey Schumack led Forks with 83 yards. Forks gave up 225 yards rushing to Hoquiam’s Artimus Johnson. La Center RB Jeffrey Mayolo was the lone player in the Southwest Washington to break the 1,000-yard marker this season. His 181-yard game against Castle Rock took him to 1,110 for the season. He’s rushed for 13 TDs. QB Jeremy Scott has passed for 1,189 yards and 13 TDs.
