Day After Report: Camas 41, Heritage 11

Camas’ win over Heritage clinched at least a share of another league title for the Papermakers.

That would make five consecutive 4A Greater St. Helens League titles and seven league titles overall.

The Papermakers have not yet secured the No. 1 seed to the Week 10 playoffs.

Camas plays a non-league game next week against Sunnyside (6-1). But the Papermakers would clinch the No. 1 seed if Skyview beats Union on Friday. If not, the Camas would need to secure that top seed and outright 4A GSHL title by beating Union on Oct. 28.

Should Camas secure that top berth, the Papermakers would be home in the Week 10 playoffs against the North Puget Sound League Olympic Division No. 4 team, which at this point could be Auburn Riverside, Enumclaw or Federal Way.

Camas would be at Doc Harris Stadium to open the 4A state playoffs, but would be on the road in the quarterfinals, possibly again at Skyline.

TALE OF TWO HALVES: Camas QB Jack Colletto passed for 196 yards on Thursday. In the first half, he was 10 of 17 for 157 yards. He was 2 for 4 for 39 yards in the second half.

On a soggy night, the Papermakers went to the ground after the intermission, rushing for 188 of their 247 yards after halftime.

By contrast, Heritage had 207 yards of offense for the game. The Timberwolves got 33 of that after halftime.

That will explain why the Papermakers outscored Heritage 35-0 in the second half.
