Prep football preview: Union (3-2) vs. Battle Ground (4-1)

LAST WEEK: Union beat Heritage 27-0; Battle Ground lost to Camas 49-28
GAME NOTES: Union’s defense has played well this season, and the Titans are coming off a shutout of Heritage. Union held the Timberwolves to 139 yards. But the Titans have struggled with consistency on offense. Union did not score in the first half last week, and the Titans’ last two TDs were scored by special teams and the defense. Nehru Faalevao, who has been splitting time at QB with Lincoln Victor, passed for 87 yards and rushed for 94 last week. The Titans will need some production on offense to keep up with the potent Tigers. Battle Ground QB Gunner Talkington has passed for 1,573 yards and 16 TDs. He’s also rushed for 316 yards and 6 TDs. Max Randle became Talkington’s top target with 40 catches for 563 yards and 10 TDs after Austin Adams sat out last week with an injury. The Tigers’ 31-0 win over Union last year was the first win by Battle Ground over the Titans.
