Players to watch: Battle Ground QB Gunner Talkington passed for 2,311 yards and 22 TDs; Kentlake QB Cody Faulkner rushed for a TD and passed for another last week. He is a pass/run threat.

Game notes: The winner of this game is District 3 No. 6 on the state bracket and will travel to the eastside of the state to open the state tournament, likely against Gonzaga Prep. Battle Ground tied for second in the 4A Greater St. Helens League at 4-2. The Tigers claimed the No. 2 seed by winning a three-team tiebreaker on Monday. Kentlake finished tied for third in the 4A South Puget Sound League Northeast Division at 2-2. The two teams have one common opponent: Kent-Meridian. Battle Ground beat Kent-Meridian 36-12 in Week 1; Kentlake lost to Kent-Meridian 35-7 three weeks later. Kentlake led 14-9 last week in the fourth quarter before Thomas Jefferson broke the game open.
