CAMAS (3-0, 0-0) vs. EVERGREEN (2-1, 1-0)
4A Greater St. Helens League game
When, where: 4:30 p.m., Friday; McKenzie Stadium, Evergreen HS, Vancouver
Internet radio: elisportsnetwork.com
Last week: Camas beat Rogers-Puyallup 56-7; Evergreen beat Heritage 6-3.
Last meeting: Camas won 49-7 in 2014.
Players to watch: Camas WR Jared Bentley has averaged nine catches for 173 yards and two TDs in 3 games this season. Evergreen RB Marquis Sampson has rushed for 283 yards and two TDs.
Game notes: While Camas has put up big numbers with Bentley and QB Liam Fitzgerald, it was the defense that really shined last week. The Papermakers held Rogers to -17 yards of offense through three quarters. Rogers finished with 86 total yards. Evergreen’s defense held Heritage to 149 yards, forcing three-and-outs (or worse) in 9 of 14 possessions. But the Plainsmen’s offense struggled, particularly with fumbles. Evergreen had five fumbles last week, losing one. They came within four minutes of being shut out, needing a bad snap on a punt to give them a short field.
The Prep Proletariat says: “If Evergreen doesn’t take care of the ball, this one will be on a running clock by halftime. CAMAS 49, EVERGREEN 0.”
Score Czar pick: Camas 32, Evergreen 6
