Prep football preview: Mountain View vs. Juanita

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday; Bergh Field, Juanita HS, Kirkland

Last week: Mountain View beat Auburn 32-21; Juanita beat Inglemoor 59-7

Last meeting: Juanita won 52-29 in 2014.

Players to watch: Mountain View RB Preston Jones rushed for 119 yards and returned a kickoff 80 yards for TD. Juanita QB Tavin Montgomery returns from an ACL injury.

Game notes: As is usually the case, Mountain View does not depend on one runner alone. Taj Albeck rushed for 95 yards on 15 carries and scored at TD. … If the Thunder are to keep up with the Rebels, they may need more production from the passing game. QB Colin Biggs passed for 37 yards last week, with 26 coming on a third-quarter TD that gave Mountain View the lead. … Juanita started 2014 5-0, which included a win over the Thunder, before Montgomery was hurt. The Rebels were 1-4 the rest of the way, including a loss to Sumner in the state preliminary round. First-year coach Lele Te’o says Montgomery is bigger and faster this season. … Junior RB Salvon Ahmed rushed for five TDs vs. Inglemoor. Juanita led 45-7 by halftime.

The Prep Proletariat says: “Last week was a good start for the Thunder. But the Rebels appear to be stronger than they were last year, when the rolled past Mountain View. JUANITA 35, MOUNTAIN VIEW 24.”
