Prep football preview: Walla Walla at Skyview
WALLA WALLA (5-4) vs. SKYVIEW (7-4)
When, where: 5 p.m., Friday; Kiggins Bowl, Discovery MS, Vancouver
TV: Fort Sports, cable Ch. 28, 328 HD
Last meeting: Skyview won 17-7 in 2014
Players to watch: Walla Walla RB Noah Porter rushed for 347 yards last season; Skyview RB/LB Blake Ingram scored 11 TDs and averaged 6.6 yards a carry in his first season playing on the offensive side of the ball.
Game notes: The Blue Devils graduated all of their first-team all-league players from last season’s squad, leaving a lot of holes to be filled by younger players. Walla Walla is hoping to earn a third consecutive winning season for the first time in school history. Skyview made the state tournament with a surprise 2-OT win over Skyline last fall. The Storm have an experience group back on defense, and Ingram will power the offense.
The Prep Proletariat says: “Too many questions for Walla Walla – a young, inexperienced team having to travel across the state to play a tough opponent in a season opener. SKYVIEW 27, WALLA WALLA 7”
