High school football scrimmages and jamborees set for this week
Can’t wait until Sept. 4 for high school football — or even Sept. 3 for the matter?
Well, don’t worry. We’ve got some football events that might hold you over until the official start of the 2015 season.
This week, Battle Ground, Fort Vancouver and Mountain View will be hosting some preseason scrimmages and jamborees.
The fourth annual Black/Orange Scrimmage will be 7 p.m. Thursday at District Stadium in Battle Ground. It’s an intrasquad scrimmage of the Battle Ground football team. A barbeque will be available from 6-8 p.m.
The event is free, and the Tiger Football Booster Club is collecting food and supplies for the North County Community Food Bank and BGHS Food Pantry.
Items needed include canned tomato products, tuna, macaroni and cheese, hygiene and toiletry products, pasta and rice, laundry and dish soap among others.
Fans who bring 15 or more items will receive a free Battle Ground drawstring bag.
Fort Vancouver will host a football jamboree at 6 p.m. Friday at Kiggins Bowl. Admission is $3.
Fort will be joined by Prairie, Kalama and King’s Way Christian in the four-team format.
Mountain View will host a jamboree at McKenzie Stadium at 6 p.m. Friday.
