WIAA Network announces coverage for Spring State Championships
The WIAA, through its membership in the NFHS Network, will add Class 2A and 1A soccer and 3A softball to its coverage of the Spring State Championships, the Association announced Wednesday.
“The Network continues to be a platform where supporters of Washington high school athletics and activities can view the championships from across the globe,” WIAA executive director Mike Colbrese said. “This demonstrates our commitment to expanding our coverage and continuing to uphold the quality of the broadcasts.”
For a third straight year, the WIAA Network will broadcast the 4A/3A/2A State Track and Field Championships at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The three-day event begins May 29 and concludes May 31.
The Network will broadcast third-place and championship games on Saturday, May 30 for 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A boys soccer, 4A and 3A softball and 4A and 3A baseball.
The third-place soccer games will air at 10 a.m. (1A, 3A) and noon (2A, 4A) with the championship games scheduled for 2 p.m. (1A, 3A) and 5 p.m. (2A, 4A) at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner (1A, 2A) and Sparks Stadium in Puyallup (3A, 4A).
The 4A and 3A third-place softball games are slated for 1:30 p.m. with the championship games to follow at 3:30 p.m. The 3A softball tournament will be held at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, while the 4A championship will be played at the Merkel Sports Complex in Spokane.
Finally, the 3A and 4A third-place baseball games will begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The championship games will start at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.
The live webcasts require a subscription to the NFHS Network and all events can be viewed by visiting www.nfhsnetwork.com/wiaa. A day pass, which provides 24 hour access to all WIAA events as well as other high school events from around the country costs $9.95. A month pass, which lasts for 30 days, costs $14.95. All events will be archived for free on-demand viewing, 72 hours after the completion of the final event.
