Tennis win long time coming
The Hudson’s Bay boys tennis team scored its first dual match victory over Camas since 2007.
The Eagles won the non-league encounter 4-2 on Friday, but it could have easily gone the other way.
At No. 2 doubles, Camas’ team of Andrew Lee and Anish Prisad were up a set (having won 7-6 (2)) and led 5-2 in the second. A win would have created a 3-3 tie in the team score, and Camas would have won on number of total sets tiebreaker criteria. But the Bay team of Danny Villagrana and Bailey Ridgeway rallied, fought off two match points, and took the second set in a tiebreaker. They then won the match by taking the third set 6-4. The match lasted some 2 1/2 hours.
Another key point came at No. 2 singles where Bay’s Thanh Vo also fought through a 2 1/2-hour match, not to mention an injury, to defeat Sam Christopher 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (4).
