Changes at Hudson’s Bay baseball
Seth Johnson, who was an assistant coach with Skyview when the Storm won the Class 4A state baseball championship last month, has been named the head coach at Hudson’s Bay.
Johnson will take over for Ben McGrew, who announced his resignation soon after the regular season came to an end.
Efforts to reach Johnson were unsuccessful prior to this post. We hope to have comments from him for Thursday’s edition of The Columbian.
McGrew initially resigned in order to further his own education but with the plan of staying at Hudson’s Bay as a teacher. Since then, though, he said he has accepted a teaching position at Union High School. He said goodbye to his Bay family Monday through social media.
“There are a lot of good kids there,” McGrew said of the Bay baseball players, noting the Eagles were just a couple percentage points off from becoming academic state champions this spring. “That speaks to the quality of the kids there. There are a lot of good kids with a passion for the game. It will be a good coaching job for Seth.”
