Athlete of the week nominees 4/29
Nominees for The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of April 22-27:
Shannon Boyle, Ridgefield softball: Boyle threw a three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts against Mark Morris, an eight-inning, four-hit shutout against R.A. Long and threw a five-inning perfect game against Hockinson.
Alexis Fuller, Union girls track and field: Fuller won the 800 and 1,600 in meet with Evergreen, then won the 1,500 meters at the Centennial Invitational.
Marcus Gaylor, Columbia River boys track and field: Gaylor won the 100 and 200 meters in a meet with Prairie, both times were among the top 3 in the state in Class 3A. His time of 22.04 seconds in the 200 was a River school record.
Oscar Golberg, Columbia River baseball: Golberg went 8 for 11 with three doubles, a home run and four RBI as River won its final three games to earn a share of the 3A GSHL championship.
Jared Williams, Ridgefield boys soccer: Williams scored two goals in a win over Hockinson and added two more goals in a win over White Salmon.
