Prairie girls basketball coach resigns
Mike Smith, who took over the Prairie girls basketball program from Al Aldridge, is out after one season.
Smith resigned as the team’s head coach on Friday.
“I felt it was in my best interest to step aside and let someone else see if they can do a better job,” Smith said.
Prairie athletic director Travis Drake said this was Smith’s decision.
The Falcons won the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League title as well as the district championship in Smith’s only season. Prairie would make it to the regional round — the final 16 in the state — but failed to make it to the state tournament for the first time since 1997.
