Heritage’s Clevidence, La Center’s Benitez earn state honors
Two Clark County baseball players earned WIAA state athlete-of-the-week honors for Week 27.
Week 27 only consisted of contests played on March 8-9, but Heritage’s Dakota Clevidence and La Center’s Jamison Benitez put up big openers in their team’s season openers.
Clevidence, a senior, went 4 for 4 with three home runs and nine RBI in a 17-12 win over Columbia River to claim the Class 4A honor. He also scored three runs and added a double.
Benitez, a junior, went 3 for 3 with two runs, two RBI and a double in a 12-2 win over Washougal to claim the 1A honor. He also threw two shutout innings of relief.
