Gift of Lift Christmas

Last week, I wrote a story about a clothing drive launched by Vancouver surgeon Allen Gabriel.

His office, Southwest Medical Group Plastic Surgery, unveiled last month its Gift of Lift campaign to collect new or lightly used bras for women in Haiti.

A local floral shop, Garside Florist, joined the effort, as did two bartenders from Shanahan’s Pub & Grill.

The floral shop owners, Kurt and Brenda Snyder, offered to collect bras at their shop on East Mill Plain Boulevard. Anyone who donated a bra has been entered to win one dozen pink long-stem roses.

Garside Florist, 6610 E. Mill Plain Blvd., is accepting bras through Dec. 16.

Within a couple weeks, the box set out to collect the bras was overflowing with more than 100 bras.

So Brenda and her staff got creative — and festive — this holiday season.
