Who was that unmasked man?

After people in the metro area Wednesday got a first peek at the suspected Hazel Dell bank robber who ended up face down at the feet of four Portland police officers, several of us had the same thought: Doesn’t the alleged robber look like Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt?

At the same time one of the mavens tweeted about the Leavitt look-a-like, local dude Jim Mains asked the Twittersphere if he was the only person who thought the suspect looked like a certain mayor.

Then Big Stu posted the photograph of the KATU screen grab on Leavitt’s Facebook page, writing, “Mayor Leavitt, captured as a bank robbery suspect? Tell me it ain’t so!” Several “likes” and jokes about Leavitt needing to pay for the Columbia River Crossing later, Leavitt joined the fun, writing, “Show me the money!”

In a strange twist, look at this sign, which is near where the suspect was arrested.

Of course, the 29-year-old suspect and the 41-year-old mayor have little in common except longish dark curly locks. For starters, Brent J. Woodall is a former bodybuilder. Look at this photo, which was cropped for today’s newspaper.

And we all know what the mayor looks like without his shirt on.
