Where in the world is Tim Leavitt?

Globe-trotting Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt will depart from hence on Wednesday to hit up Washington D.C. for a week.

Leavitt will spend three days with 230 others of his kind at the 2011 U.S. Conference of Mayors, attending legislative sessions, rubbing well-clad elbows and culminating with an opportunity to meet President Obama.

He’ll spend the next few days, along with City Manager Eric Holmes, meeting with the Southwest Washington delegation and also getting a chance to meet federal officials who may be inclined to hand out grants to the city down the road.

He’ll also be spending his 40th birthday in the Capitol — but don’t expect that will keep him from celebrating back in good old Clark County when he returns on Jan. 26.
