Tuesday’s meeting could be lively, thanks to Benton

As of noon Friday, a Facebook page by Friends of Clark County, “Speak up against Don Benton’s hire,” had more than 140 people who said they plan to attend the county commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday.

The site says:

Don Benton has a score of 30 out of a potential of 100 for his senate votes regarding the environment and no formal training on environmental stewardship.

So why do Commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke think he’s worth skipping the hiring process to head up our environmental services department?

Join the Friends at the Commissioners’ Hearing next Tues., May 7, at 6 p.m. in the Clark County Public Service Building (1300 Franklin St, Vanc.) to hear what the commissioners have to say and to speak your mind!

There will be two opportunities for public comment – one for comment on the agenda item and another for open comment (the Benton hire). Each person will be given 3 minutes to speak. There will be a lot of people here, so you have something to say, please keep to the time limit so everyone has a chance to speak!

Comments on the website included those from people who support Madore and Mielke. The meeting will be broadcast live on CVTV, Channel 23.
