Mohegan exec: tough times for casinos

While the possibility of a casino in Clark County has been put on hold while the decision to allow the Cowlitz Indian Tribe to establish a reservation is appealed in federal court, the Connecticut-based Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority continues scaling back plans for other casinos.

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority is the gambling arm of the Mohegan Tribe. It partnered in 2004 with developer and Cowlitz Tribe member David Barnett to form Salishan-Mohegan, LLC.

The Mohegans are the majority partner in the company that would manage the Cowlitz casino for seven years in exchange for 24 percent of net revenues.
