Leavitt’s plans for Valentine’s Day

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt has a date lined up for Valentine’s Day: himself.

Leavitt said Tuesday he will announce on Feb. 14 whether he plans to seek a second four-year term. He said his announcement will likely be outside of Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St., and the time has not been scheduled.

Editor Lou Brancaccio has gone on record saying he thinks Leavitt will run, and the fact that Leavitt will have a press conference to announce his decision seems to support that.

Who does he think he is, LeBron James? If he does, well, I’m not ESPN. I’ll dutifully show up for his press conference, of course, and write a story, but this isn’t going to be the subject of round-the-clock coverage.

The election is in November. To date, no other candidates have been confirmed.
