Pat Campbell sent a strongly worded email to City Manager Eric Holmes very early Friday morning blasting him for reinstating a fired VPD officer.

He called it a “slap in the face,” and said the cop’s credibility was a problem now.

Guess he’s not feeling the same way after meeting with Holmes, and Police Chief Cliff Cook, Monday afternoon.

He sent this email at 8:21 p.m. (after my story was filed and I had left for the evening):

“Eric and Cliff,
Thank you for meeting with me today and going over the details of the Billingsley decision. I think the right decision was made given the circumstances. I have hopes Mr. Billingsley will learn from this experience and be able to restart his career with VPD with a clean slate.
