It’s a hard-knock life
As the mother of two young girls, I’d already been planning on attending a performance of the Metropolitan Performing Arts Academy’s production of “Annie” next month.
But now I will even get a blog post out of it.
Clark County Assessor Peter Van Nortwick, a Republican, will be playing the role of Henry Morgenthau, FDR’s Secretary of the Treasury.
“It’s a small role, but I am honored to be cast as the tax man,” Van Nortwick wrote in an email. “I did have to stretch a little, because he was a Democrat.”
As for the reason Van Nortwick will be playing the tax man instead of the county’s real tax man, Treasurer Doug Lasher, well, there are probably several reasons. But one of Van Nortwick’s daughters, Haley, is the dance captain.
Performances are Oct. 5, 6, 12 and 13 at Washburn Performing Arts Center in Washougal. To order tickets, click here.
