County councilors attend NACo conference in D.C.

In lieu of meetings at the Public Service Center this week, Clark County councilors conducted business in a much larger setting — the nation’s capital.

Council Chair Eileen Quiring and Councilors Julie Olson and Temple Lentz attended the National Association of Counties’ Legislative Conference this week at the Washington Hilton. NACo represents almost 40,000 elected county officials and 3.6 million county employees.

The annual conference took place Saturday through Wednesday this year. It includes various committees, caucuses and other meetings. Speakers this year included President Donald Trump and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson.

The county council typically meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. But this week’s meeting was rescheduled for March 10 at 10 a.m.
