Christmas in the Couv
Local dudes Gary Bock and Jim Mains have a new Vancouver Side video out, “The Christmas Gift,” in which they get schooled by Santa on the meaning of holiday.
During their quest to find Christmas in the Couv, they visit with editor Lou Brancaccio, AKA the “Curmudgeon of The Columbian,” who they are surprised to find was infused with holiday spirit.
(I didn’t watch this when it was filmed on Tuesday. I was advised by co-workers who sit near Lou’s office to avert my eyes.)
Santa and the dudes also visit with Linda Glover, executive director of Divine Consign, make a stop at Rand Jeweler and other downtown businesses including Java House. Here’s Lonnie Chandler, who started Java House 23 years ago with his wife, Cora, trying to help the dudes figure it all out.
Vancouver City Councilor Jack Burkman and former Councilor Pat Jollota also make appearances, as does Mayor Tim Leavitt.
Since I have “a CMS that will allow me to embed videos in blog posts,” on my Christmas work wish list, you can watch the video on Vancouver Side’s website. Click here. Watch the bonus scene, after the credits.
And if you are wondering what happened to those cheap musical Christmas ties that, ahem, fell off the back of a sleigh, newsroom managers distributed them this week to us underlings. Merry Christmas.
