New mavens, new photos

Reporter Eric Florip has been contributing to All Politics is Local, but we’ve officially made him the fifth maven.

We recently introduced the newest contributors to All Politics is Local, Erik Hidle and Tyler Graf, who cover county government and small cities, respectively.

But since we had to take a new photo (new photo, same looks of boredom/skepticism/irritation), we decided to add Florip, our transportation reporter who endures C-Tran and RTC meetings.

We took new photos Friday at Vancouver City Hall.

Here we are, trying to look tough. I should have worn heels.

From left, Hidle, Florip, me, Marissa Harshman and Graf.

For the benefit of new readers, I switched from the county beat to the city of Vancouver beat after Andrea Damewood left in September for Willamette Week. Harshman, who when we started this blog covered small cities, covers health and gets to watch the county commissioners in their roles of the Board of Health.

Here we are, smiling at the thought of a fifth Monday.

We couldn’t resist posing in Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt’s office (Leavitt gave his approval).

And no, we did not rifle through Leavitt’s desk, check his garbage can (OK, I did, it was empty) or turn on his computer.

But we did amuse ourselves by checking out his collection of ties.

And we deserve to have a little fun, because remember our slogan: “We go to meetings so you don’t have to.”
