Short and sweet

Last night’s Vancouver City Council meeting may have set a merciful new record: shortest regular meeting ever.

A certain someone who was paying attention noted Tuesday that the 7 p.m. meeting was just 12 minutes long. For a council prone to the style of “if one person talks, all seven feel they must chime in,” this had to be a record.

It may have been because it was sunny as all get out. But I’m sure that the agenda — which included the Pledge of Allegiance, communications from the council and not much else — helped.

The city council is required by its charter to hold two regular meetings, and so a special meeting would have to be called for next week, yadda yadda yadda. Frankly the explanation’s longer than Monday’s meeting.

I’ll just choose to be happy I had some semblance of a free Monday night.
