Putting it all in perspective
The kiddos keep giving us the best blog fodder.
Our latest laugh came courtesy Keagan Potter, who visited the Vancouver City Council’s citizen’s forum Monday night.
He tagged along with his dad, Brian Potter, who works in the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, to score an “A” grade on a project in his leadership class at Shahala Middle School.
Keagan, a sixth grader, sat through more than an hour of testimony mostly from folks in favor of or against the Columbia River Crossing and light rail.
As Keagan settled into the hot seat, Mayor Tim Leavitt asked: “What do you want to tell us about light rail?”
“I don’t even know what it is,” he answered, sending everyone into much needed peals of laughter.
He talked a bit about which sports he plays, and then Leavitt asked him what he thought about his leadership class with Ms. Johnson.
“It was fun,” he said, before choosing to add, “but she gets aggravated really easy.”
Pops stepped in with a “remember you’re on camera, buddy.”
No word on if that line affected his grade (we’re sure it didn’t). Brian Potter said Tuesday that his son really enjoyed the experience, and had been looking forward to it.
“He said he was going to meet the Governor of Vancouver,” Brian Potter said.
(Don’t get any big ideas on a title change, Mr. Mayor).
