Another 80 Degree Day In The Bag
Happy summer everyone! Summer is officially here and with it comes another 80 degree day in both Portland and Vancouver. Under normal circumstances that would not be a big deal for mid to late June, but this spring has been very chilly. Have you also noticed that the endless rain has seemingly slowed down? Well, it has! Rainfall is much closer to normal vs. a month or two ago. That trend should continue for the summer months. La Nina is on the way out and that should translate into what could end up being a “normal” summer with plenty of warm and sunny days in the coming months. We shall see!
For now, lets just look at the next 5-7 days. We will be on the edge of the jet stream over the next week, with most of the energy heading just to our north. A few disturbances will rotate down into the Pacific Northwest over the coming days and that will help to thicken up the marine (low) clouds at times. I do not see any major rain makers in the coming few days, however there will likely be a few days where we are socked in with clouds most of the day and even a chance of drizzle or light showers at times. Even with the clouds, temperatures will be in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s which is a little below average for this time of the year. All in all, it will be typical June weather around the region. Nothing to worry about, but nothing to warm either. Hey, lets take what we can get, right?
