U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid visits Camas Inn

The Fairgate Inn in Camas saw a break from its normal clientele of brides, grooms and business people when U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his wife recently decided to stay there for a few nights.

Also in tow were Reid’s five body guards, who “stuck close to the Reids night and day,” according to the inn’s blog. The inn also reported that “the couple enjoyed a 3-night stay in the Cotswold Suite while squeezing in a packed agenda.”

Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, has been in the news recently for asking Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to disclose his tax returns to the public. Reid has accused Romney of not paying his taxes, though there is no evidence to back up that claim, and Romney has declined to share his returns.

Political pundits have pointed out that Reid doesn’t have much to lose by trying to keep a spotlight on Romney’s finances this election season. Reid isn’t up for re-election until 2016.

The Fairgate Inn pointed out that the Reids enjoyed their stay and that guests of all political stripes are welcome at the inn.

Reid’s press office has yet to return a call to answer this breaking news question: Was his trip to the Camas inn for business or for pleasure?
