Rep. Vick named to Legislative Ethics Board

Freshman state Rep. Brandon Vick, R-Vancouver, was picked to join a committee that investigates accusations of ethical wrongdoing among state lawmakers.

The Legislative Ethics Board meets monthly to review alleged violations in which legislators used their office, staff or resources for personal gain, as well as allegations of conflicts of interest and campaign wrongdoings.

Vick, who previously served as chairman of the Clark County Republican Party, said he is honored to be selected for the nine-person board.

“As elected officials, we have a responsibility to all Washingtonians to abide by a strict ethical and moral compass,” Vick said in a statement.

House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, said Vick’s appointment to the board will help restore the public’s faith in elected leaders.

“Despite this being his first legislative session, he has proved to be a natural leader and a great example,” DeBolt said. Vick “is the type of legislator that will help foster and renew an environment of trust in our state government.”

Vick was elected as an 18th District representative in the 2012 general election.
