Looking for a Chevy? Take a right
For a brief moment, there seemed to be a transportation-related measure that most Southwest Washington lawmakers could rally behind.
Senate Bill 6468 would allow the state’s Department of Transportation to post highway signs alerting drivers where the next auto mall was located.
You know, for diesel take a right. For hot coffee, take a left.
And if you’re in the mood to buy a car, keep going straight until the Andresen exit.
The car dealers were willing to foot the bill for the sign, but it appears to be dead for the 2016 session.
Apparently people do make impulse car purchases, the car dealers told lawmakers. And, hey, not everyone has GPS.
Rep. Lynda Wilson, R-Vancouver, was the chief sponsor of the bill. “It was a simple little bill,” she said, brought to her directly from car dealers.
Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, who also signed on to the measure, said she anticipates the measure will be considered in a future legislative session.
