LDN backs Heck

The Longview Daily News last week offered an early endorsement of Democrat Denny Heck in the 3rd Congressional District race, saying Heck “has exhibited the same independent streak that led Baird to break from his party time and again in order to best represent the interests of his Southwest Washington constituents.”

The Daily News noted that Heck has criticized both major political parties for their responses to the recession, saying, “I think they’re both guilty of some pretty deep misunderstanding of what it takes to create jobs.”

The editors took note of Heck’s own experience in private-sector job creation and said that while both Heck and Republican Jaime Herrera would identify that as the 3rd District’s top priority, Heck’s experience in both business and government gives him the edge.
