Russell: Vote Rivers in 18th
Jon Russell, the Washougal city councilman who finished third in the 18th Legislative District August top-two primary, has taken the high road and endorsed his Republican rival, Ann Rivers.
“I believe Ann brings a measure of legislative experience that is unmatched in the 18th district general election,” he wrote Friday. “I believe Ann will fight for tougher state laws on illegal aliens, protecting the right to life and protecting marriage between a man and woman. I believe she will be a strong voice on socially conservative issues . . . The 18th district is a conservative district and Ann Rivers is the right person to represent us.”
Russell said he would encourage the organizations, volunteers and elected officials that endorsed him in the primary to cast their avotes for Rivers, who faces Democrat Dennis Kampe in the general election.
