Event raises $1,700 for Gulf relief
On primary election night, one group of people weren’t just thinking local.
Approximately 130 people who attended a fundraising event at Tommy O’s Pacific Rim Bistro, 801 Washington St., donated a total of $1,700 for the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to help with restoration efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.
The event was hosted by the Committee to Re-Elect Steve Stuart and state Sen. Craig Pridemore.
Stuart, a Clark County commissioner who will face no-tolls candidate Alan Svehaug in the Nov. 2 general election, said the EDF has been long involved in the Gulf area.
“They are working to address many of the complex challenges resulting from the spill,” Stuart said.
