Commissioner challenger dislikes tolls, questions fees
Vancouver resident Alan Svehaug, 57, couldn’t be reached after he filed June 11 to run against Clark County Commissioner Steve Stuart.
A press release later issued on his behalf described the political newcomer as a former contractor who now works as a real estate developer.
Svehaug opposes bridge tolls and wants to make it less expensive to build homes in Clark County, according to a press release sent out by conservative activist Lew Waters.
“Alan Svehaug has over 30 years experience as a contractor along with several years experience in planning and developing construction projects that he has worked on and restoring multifamily units,” Waters wrote.
Republican Jeanne Stewart, a Vancouver City Councilwoman, also filed to run against Stuart.
