Benton builds a campaign
State Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, has a new campaign headquarters — in Tumwater — and he’s hired a new press secretary in his bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.
Her name is Jennifer Scarlett Lee. She learned the political ropes in U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert‘s 2004 campaign for Congress and later as a member of the Washington Republican’s congressional staff in D.C.
Looks like she’s already earning her pay. The press release announcing her appointment ends with this declaration: “Senator Benton is the front-runner in the race to defeat Senator Patty Murray this November.”
