Halloween is over and with luck you managed to get rid of all the candy. So for tonight, how about something easy to fix but with romantic overtones? Spaghetti. Not romantic, you think? How can you say that when one of the most romantic love scenes in all of moviedom is the scene where Lady and Tramp eat spaghetti outside the Italian restaurant?

I know. They’re dogs. But still…

So what I’m proposing for tonight is this:

Spaghetti aglio e olio

It’s spaghetti aglio and olio and it’s easy peasy.

For two:

Saute one or two chopped cloves of garlic in a good olive oil until the garlic is soft. Add a pinch of dried red pepper flakes. Set aside.

In boiling water cook the recommended amount of pasta for two people. When the pasta is al dente–soft but not mushy–drain. Toss the pasta with the oil and garlic. Add additional oil to coat the spaghetti as needed. You may also add chopped parsley if you want or top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Add a loaf of bread, a glass of wine and a few candles and you have a meal fit for any pair of lovers. (And if you insist on dessert, there’s always the leftover candy from last night.)
