Getting nervous in the Llama Greenway!
We’ve changed our shoes into ones we don’t mind getting wet. The last obstacle for the llamas is walking through a “raging river.” It is actually a kiddie pool filled with about 4 inches of water, but it’s enough that we don’t want to squish around the Fair the rest of the day.
The “Experienced Llama” class just finished. Experience has to do with placing first, second, or third place in a prior Obstacle competition. Rob and I are nervously awaiting the “Novice Llama” class with adult handlers. We’ve sized up the various tasks, like going under “branches” and over bridges and walking sideways and backwards. I, for one, am a little anxious.
I’m most nervous about the “branch” for me (I’m not much of a bender) and the backwards stepping for my animal. I will be taking Napoleon “through the woods.” Rob will be taking Andre. They are both alpacas. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone. Actually, it’s all good. Since llamas and alpacas are related, they are allowed to compete together.
Stay tuned!
